The NHS has spent at least £250 million on transgender procedures for children and adults in England in the last five years, it has been reported.

According to The Mail on Sunday, Freedom of Information requests reveal that during the first ten months of 2024-25 the figure was £88 million — 20 per cent higher than in all the previous twelve months.

The data does not include the cost of surgical procedures for three years, or any costs involving the prescription of cross-sex hormones, meaning the estimated total figure for NHS spending on trans procedures is over £100 million a year.

At least £48 million was used on adult ‘sex-change’ surgeries such as mastectomies over the last two years, while the amount spent on children’s non-surgical procedures rocketed 50 per cent from £17.5 million in 2023-24, to £26.5 million in 2024-25 up to January.

Stephanie Davies-Arai, founder and Director of Transgender Trend, stated: “NHS England’s job is to treat medical problems yet they are creating medical problems where none previously existed.

“To spend so much on damaging people’s bodies for no evidenced reason is unacceptable and in the case of children unconscionable.”

Director of Campaigns for Sex Matters Fiona McAnena agreed, adding: “£250 million is an obscene amount for the NHS to spend on experimental and often dangerous surgeries for people who want to look more like the opposite sex.”

A Senator has highlighted the rise of abortion in a Dáil debate on International Women’s Day.

Independent Senator Rónán Mullen called the abortion rates ‘troubling’, and explained how telemedicine access to abortion pills bypasses important safeguards.

Senator Mullen stated: “like many other Irish women and men, I am troubled by the rise in Ireland’s abortion rates.

“There needs to be a refocus to reduce abortion, specifically the dangers of basing abortion on a telemedicine model when the HSE has acknowledged that meeting a woman in person increases the likelihood of the provider identifying any coercion or domestic abuse.”

Mullen also criticised the legislation around surrogacy, calling out “the lack of attention to the mental health and other needs of women who are exploited through surrogacy”.

He also celebrated the “resounding ‘No’” from the public last year when they were asked whether wording recognising “the mother’s particular role and gift to Irish society” should be removed from the Constitution.

Outsourcing assisted suicide to private companies has been condemned as “a nightmare waiting to happen” and warned it could become a “lucrative money-making enterprise”.

The stark warning came as The Times revealed that Ministers have “no in-principle objection” to offering assisted suicide contracts to private firms to ease pressure on the NHS, if the Leadbeater Bill becomes law.

In one of the most sinister developments yet in the move to impose state-sanctioned euthanasia on the UK, the assisted suicide Bill Committee has voted down an amendment to safeguard people with Down’s syndrome.

Across the United Kingdom and Ireland, a disturbing and oppressive campaign is underway: the systematic silencing of pro-life Christians who dare to bear witness to the sanctity of life outside abortion facilities.

Under the guise of “buffer zones” or “exclusion zones,” local councils, radical abortion activists, and government bureaucrats are trampling on the fundamental rights of believers—barring pro-lifters from the very places where our compassion and prayer are needed most.

These laws do not merely restrict speech; they criminalise prayer, prohibit acts of charity, and punish those who offer women an alternative to the violence and injustice of abortion. Governments are acting as the enforcer of the abortion industry, using police powers to suppress peaceful expressions of faith and deny the unborn their only defenders in their most desperate hour.

The UK’s so-called “safe access zones” (Public Spaces Protection Orders, or PSPOs) were first imposed by local councils outside abortion clinics. These laws ban any form of pro-life presence—including peaceful prayer, silent witness, and even offering help to women considering abortion.

Westminster has now mirrored pro-death laws in Scotland, Eire and Northern Ireland. Exclusion zones of at least 150 metres now surround all abortion providers in England and Wales. Within these government-imposed “censorship zones”:

Christians are arrested and prosecuted for silent prayer. 

Offers of help are banned – A volunteer who hands a woman a leaflet about adoption or pregnancy support services risks criminal prosecution. Even telling a woman that she has other options besides abortion is considered “harassment” under these draconian laws.

 Christian witness is erased – Pro-life signs, religious symbols, or even wearing a visible cross near an abortion clinic can be grounds for police intervention.

The UK, which once prided itself on free speech and religious liberty, has now created zones where one particular viewpoint—the pro-life message—is forcibly erased.

These zones do not target aggressive protestors, but compassionate individuals who offer love, prayer, and practical help to vulnerable women. Many pro-life volunteers have helped women choose life by providing financial support, housing, and emotional care.

One woman, Rosa, walked into a UK abortion clinic but was deeply unsure about going through with her abortion. A pro-life volunteer standing outside gently told her, “You don’t have to do this. We can help you.” That simple offer changed everything—Rosa chose life for her baby and later thanked the volunteer for saving her from a decision she would have regretted forever.

Under exclusion zone laws, that volunteer would now be committing a criminal offence for offering a message of hope.

Abortion activists argue that these laws protect women from “harassment.” But where is the evidence? The truth is, pro-life groups operate peacefully, abiding by the law and showing respect for all women. Yet the only speech the government deems “harmful” is pro-life speech.

The abortion industry remains free to advertise, promote, and even pressure women into abortions. Our governments fund abortion services with taxpayer money and allows schools to push pro-abortion propaganda.

Only pro-life speech is silenced. There are no “exclusion zones” to keep abortion advocates from influencing vulnerable women. This is not about “safety” or “privacy”—it is about censoring opposition to abortion.

This crackdown is not just an attack on free speech; it is an attack on Christian faith itself. The Gospels call believers to stand up for the voiceless and protect the weak. Christ Himself declared, “Whatever you did for the least of these, you did for Me” (Matthew 25:40). For centuries, Christians have prayed, fasted, and worked to defend the innocent from injustice. Now, the liberal elite treat our sacred mission as a crime.
